Calendar view

Calendar view arranges your open tasks by day so you can look at a week’s work together. It helps you notice a busy day, prepare for an upcoming check or decide which task to attend to next. This weekly worksheet works in the spreadsheet without connecting Google Calendar.

The dates and descriptions come from your saved tasks. Change the plan on Task changes, then use this view to read the result. If you also use Google Calendar, the Update Google Calendar on Start Here link takes you to the button that sends your saved tasks there.

How to use this page

Choose any date in Week containing. The worksheet shows the Monday–Sunday week that includes that date, so you do not need to find the Monday yourself. Read the jobs under each day together with any written time and stock number.

When work is completed or cancelled on Task changes, it leaves this open-work weekly view and remains in Work history. If a day becomes too crowded, reschedule the appropriate tasks on Task changes; moving a plan does not record that the farm work itself happened.

Display the tasks in Google Calendar

The weekly Calendar view in Sheets works on its own. Connecting Google Calendar adds a second place to see the tasks: a dedicated Farmer’s Helper calendar in the Google Calendar app. Keep creating and changing the tasks in the workbook.

Connect or disconnect

Connect Google Calendar on General settings opens the connection window. It shows whether the calendar is connected, disconnected or still needs to be connected.

Disconnect calendar stops updates from this workbook and keeps existing calendar events. Reconnect Google Calendar reconnects it so you can send updates again.

Send saved task changes from Start Here

  1. Finish your changes on Task changes and check their result on Work plan.
  2. Open Start Here. Under Everyday shortcuts, click Update Google Calendar once. That click starts the update; there is no second Update button to press.
  3. Wait for the result. The window shows the last successfully recorded update. Use Open Google Calendar to see the display, or Done to return to the spreadsheet.

If you have not connected a calendar, the window offers Go to General settings. Connect there, then return to Start Here to update. If an update fails, read the message and use Retry update when offered. Opening the workbook or its setup window does not send task changes.

Updates are manual. Repeat the Start Here action after adding, changing, completing or cancelling tasks when you want those changes reflected in Google Calendar. The recorded update time tells you when an update last succeeded; it does not mean the display has stayed synchronized since then.

The sheet buttons work in a desktop browser. The same actions are available under Extensions → Farmer’s Helper — Development → Connect Google Calendar and Update Google Calendar.

Current display limits: entries in Google Calendar are all-day events. When a task has a time, that time is written in its event description rather than shown as an appointment block. Read that written time when arranging your day.

Edits made directly in Google Calendar do not change the workbook’s tasks. If you deliberately deleted task displays there, use Restore missing task displays from the Work & plans menu only when you want them recreated from the saved tasks.

Reading the daily columns

Each daily column lists open tasks due on that day in the selected week. The description explains the job, the stock number identifies the item or lot when one is named, and any written time helps you arrange the day. Read those details together before deciding what needs attention.

Each day displays up to 20 tasks. If you need the full task list, use Work plan rather than assuming that an empty space or a shortened daily display represents all the saved work. Update the underlying task on Task changes when its plan changes.
