Activity summary brings together recorded production, use and real losses so you can review what happened on the farm. Each row describes one kind of event and identifies the stock involved, the date and the amount.
The same number can mean different things depending on the event. An output quantity tells you what was produced; a use quantity tells you what was consumed; a loss quantity tells you what was actually lost or discarded. Read the kind and unit with the amount before drawing conclusions.
How to use this page
Begin with Kind, then read Stock number, Happened on, Quantity and Unit together. The date is the date of the farm event, which may be earlier than the day someone entered it. This page does not have start and end date choices, so read Happened on beside the entries when reviewing when the work occurred.
Find the activity you want to understand and read Kind to establish what its quantity describes.
Use Record to locate the original entry if the summary does not explain enough. For production, use Lineage when you need every source connected to the output, including combined or repacked stock.
Read Detail for the entered context, then consult the original record and any related history before deciding a change is needed.
If an amount was entered incorrectly, use the correction tools and their history. Repairing an entry is different from recording a real loss: it should not imply that stock was physically discarded. Read the events here and use their entry or correction pages if something needs changing, so the report continues to show the saved account of the work.
Record
Record gives the number or label of the original production, use or loss entry. Find that entry when the summary is too brief to answer your question. Its full details explain the reason for the work and, where relevant, the stock it came from.
Kind
Kind tells you how to understand the event. Produced describes an output that was recorded, Use describes stock genuinely consumed for a purpose, and Loss describes stock actually lost or discarded. A correction repairs an entry error and has its own history; it should not be read as an actual loss.
Stock number
Stock number identifies the item or lot involved. On a Produced line, it is the number of the new output. Open Lineage when you want to see the stock it came from, including every contributing lot when material was combined or repacked.
Happened on
Happened on is the date the farm event took place. Someone may have entered it later, so use this date when asking when production, use or loss actually happened. The act of saving an older event does not make it a new event on the day of entry.
Quantity
Quantity is the amount for the Kind shown on the row. A production amount measures the output; the source material used to make it is a separate measure recorded with the production sources. Reading those as different amounts prevents an output total from being mistaken for a consumption total.
Unit
Unit tells you how the amount was measured, such as kilograms, litres or individual items. Keep it alongside Quantity whenever you compare activities. This page keeps different units distinct, because adding a weight to an item count would not give a meaningful total.
Detail
Detail provides context from the entry, such as why stock was used or why something was discarded. Read it with Kind and the amount to understand the event. If it is too brief to explain what you need, use Record to find the original entry and its related history.
