Use this page to repair mistaken information already recorded, while keeping the earlier information and your reason in Detail history. For an arrival, production or use/loss, check that the original entry was Accepted. For an individual Stock note, choose the particular completed note you want to repair using the steps below.
This is for an entry mistake, not for something new that happened on the farm. Record a new move, observation or actual loss on its own page. Use Correct quantity when the mistake was the original received or produced amount.
Apply a detail correction
Find the original entry and check what is wrong before starting. For stock entries, you will need the original number, the detail to change and an explanation of how you established the correct information.
For an individual note, open Stock notes and find the observation using its Stock number, dates and text. Check that Note check says Ready, click any cell on that exact row, then choose Extensions → Farmer’s Helper — Development → Stock → Correct selected note.
This opens the next unused Correct details row and prepares its Correction number, Page, Existing record number and Field for you. Replacement begins with the note’s current text. The action does not change the original note or overwrite another correction draft. Edit Replacement to say what the note should have said, then explain the mistake in Reason.
For a selected Stock note, use the correction row already prepared for you. For another kind of entry, start the next empty Correct details row, enter a new Correction number, choose its original Page and enter the Existing record number.
In Field, choose the detail to repair from those offered for that page. Enter what it should say in Replacement and explain the mistake in Reason.
Ask anyone using this workbook to stop adding or changing entries. Click a cell in the correction row and choose Extensions → Farmer’s Helper — Development → Stock changes → Apply selected detail correction.
Read the confirmation and Detail history. The tool checks entries that depend on this information. If they no longer pass their checks, it restores the old detail rather than keeping the change.
If the action stops unfinished, keep the same row and Correction number and run it again. Finish or resolve that correction before normal entry resumes.
The menu action needs the development add-on installed and given permission to use the workbook. Have one person manage the correction. A unit can be changed only before any quantity has been recorded as used or lost, and before a quantity correction has been applied; the tool cannot convert an existing history from one unit to another.
Correction number
Choose a number or short label that has not been used for another correction. Type it directly into the cell and keep it unchanged. It lets the tool recognise this repair if the action is interrupted.
Run the same row and number again to finish that correction, rather than entering it a second time under another number. A different repair needs a new number so that the two corrections can be understood separately.
Page
Choose the tab where you originally entered the mistaken detail. This tells the tool where to find it and which details it can repair. Choose the original entry tab rather than a history or summary: those views show information taken from the entries.
Existing record number
Enter the number already used for the entry you want to repair. On different pages this can be a Stock number, Activity number or the Entry number for a use or loss. You are finding that existing entry, not giving the stock another number.
For an Additional sources row, type the Activity number, a space, a slash, another space and the Source stock number. Both numbers are needed to identify one source within that activity.
For an individual Stock note, use Correct selected note on its original Stock notes row. The action prepares the reference to that particular observation, even when the stock has several notes. Keep the prepared Existing record number unchanged; you do not need to find a row number or type a special reference yourself.
Field
A Field is one detail on the original entry, such as its product or reason. Choose the detail that was wrong from the choices offered for the Page you selected. The tool replaces that detail while keeping the rest of the entry. Use Correct quantity for a wrong original received or produced amount.
For an individual Stock note, you can repair Note, Recorded by, Location recorded or Stage recorded. The prepared correction starts with Field set to Note. If you choose another supported field, also change Replacement to the right value for that detail.
This action does not change a note’s Stock number, incident or recording dates, Important tick, or a saved shared Batch note. Record a genuinely later observation as a new note rather than changing what the earlier observation said.
Stock numbers and the choice of source cannot be changed here, because doing that would attach earlier work to different stock. If the detail you need is not offered, do not choose another field with a different meaning.
Replacement
Enter what should have been in the chosen Field. Match the information that belongs there: a date for a date field, a number for an amount or readable text for a reason. Other entries may use this information, so the tool checks them before keeping the replacement.
Changing a unit name does not convert quantities. A unit can be changed only before any quantity has been recorded as used or lost, and before a quantity correction has been applied. This prevents an old number from silently taking on a different meaning.
Reason
Explain what was mistaken and why the replacement is correct. Give enough context for someone who did not make the correction to understand it later. For example, say which original record you checked or how the incorrect wording arose.
Keep a repair to a recorded fact separate from a real new event. Changing an old reason is not another use or loss, and correcting an arrival detail is not a new receipt.
Recorded by — optional
Choose the person or team making this correction, type a name, or leave it blank. This Recorded by box identifies who is making the repair. If Field is also set to Recorded by, the Replacement box corrects the name on the original entry; the two boxes serve different purposes.
A name gives colleagues someone to ask about the repair. It is a label you choose; Google sign-in does not fill it or confirm who made the correction.
Save status
Read this before assuming the detail has changed. Pending means the correction is not finished. Keep the same row and Correction number, leave ordinary entry stopped and run the same action again. Losing a confirmation is not a reason to enter a second correction.
Read Detail history for the old detail, replacement and result. Rolled back means the tool restored the old detail because another entry no longer passed its checks. Read Review detail for what needs attention before trying a new correction.
