Stock changes

Use Stock changes to record what happens to stock you already have: a move, a new stage, an amount used or lost, or a decision about whether it is ready. These entries stay with the same stock number, helping you understand its history.

If an earlier entry was simply wrong, use a correction instead. Choosing the page that matches what happened keeps a real farm event separate from a typing or counting mistake.

Choose the page that matches what happened

The stock moved or reached another stage

Use Move or change stage for a completed move, a stage change or both. Keep the stock number because this is still the same item or lot. Check the entry, then tick Include change when it is ready to use. A move changes its place or progress; its amount and any hold stay as they were.

An amount was used or lost

Use Use or loss for stock that was really removed, consumed or lost. Finish the row, then choose it on Post entries and check for Accepted. If the same material is already recorded as used in Produce or harvest, it has already been deducted. Entering it here again would take it away twice.

You inspected stock or decided whether to use it

Assessment & holds records what you found and any decision about the whole item or lot. You can record an inspection without changing its status. When you decide to hold it or release it for use, record that decision too. Stock on hold still remains physically on hand.

An earlier entry was mistaken

Correct quantity puts an incorrect original amount right. Correct details handles the types of description mistake listed in its guide. These actions use the additional Farmer’s Helper tools, which show you the proposed change before you save it.

The history keeps the original entry and its correction. You can therefore see that a recorded amount was repaired rather than assuming stock was really lost.

Make sure the result matches the event

Return to Current Stock to check the amount, place, stage or status that changed. The matching history explains the entry behind it. In this practice version, have one person enter work at a time. Moves and status decisions apply to the whole chosen item or lot; read the detailed guide before recording a change that affects only part of it.
