Activities

Use Activities when your farm produces something from stock you already have. Record what was produced as new stock, then say which earlier stock it came from. This lets you follow the new item or lot and see what remains of the original stock.

Start on Produce or harvest. If several sources contribute, add them on Additional sources. Lineage is the page for looking back through those recorded origins.

Record what was produced and where it came from

Find the stock it came from

Earlier stock that contributes to something new is called a source. Find it in Current Stock and check its stock number, amount, unit and availability. Its earlier arrival or production needs an Accepted result on Post entries before you can use it as a source.

Describe the new stock and any amount used

On Produce or harvest, give the work an activity number and the new stock its own stock number. The activity number labels what happened; the stock number labels the resulting item or lot you will follow afterward.

Enter how much was produced and its unit. Select the source and enter the amount actually used from it. If the amount you record for the source stays unchanged, enter zero in Quantity used. This keeps the source recorded for later production. If material really was used up or transferred into a new lot, enter that amount instead.

Use Additional sources when more stock contributed to the same result. Add each extra source once under the same activity number, leaving the main source on the main production row.

Check the new stock and what remains

After checking the entry, choose it on the next empty Post entries line. An Accepted result means you can find the new stock and the remaining source amounts in Current Stock. If it is Rejected, read the explanation and correct that draft before choosing its updated entry on a new posting line.

Open Lineage to follow where the new stock came from or what was produced from a source. For a longer chain, follow each stock number in turn. The Lineage guide explains how to read the links without counting the same output more than once.
