Overview

Overview helps you decide where to look when checking your farm’s records. It highlights stock or jobs worth reviewing and provides a link to the page where you can see the individual items.

Begin with the summary, then follow its link for the quantities, status and notes you need before acting. The summary helps you find a question to look into; the detailed page helps you understand the situation. These figures organize stock and work rather than calculate income, costs or profit.

How to use this page

Each row answers three questions: what should I review, how many records are involved, and where can I see them? Read What to review and Count together so you know what is being counted. Then follow Open page to understand the individual records.

A stock-record count is different from a quantity of stock. One record might describe one item recorded separately, while another describes a lot containing many items. The quantities and units on the detailed stock page tell you how much is physically present.

  1. Choose a group you want to review and follow its Open page link.
  2. Read the individual records and any entry-check messages there. Compare physical stock with availability: stock can still occupy space while it is held or not ready to use.
  3. If a change is needed, record it on the appropriate entry page and return to review the result.

What to review

This names the group that the summary is drawing to your attention. It is a prompt to look at the underlying records and understand why they appear there. It does not decide what should happen to the stock or work; that decision depends on the details you find.

Count

Count tells you how many stock numbers or tasks are in the group named beside it. One stock number might represent one item, or it might represent a lot containing many items. Count therefore tells you how many records there are to review, not the total number of plants, animals or containers.

Follow Open page when you want the actual amount of stock. Read each quantity with its unit so you know whether it counts items, containers, weight or another measure.

Open page

Open page takes you to the worksheet that explains the summary row. Read that page’s quantities, status or task description before making a decision. If a record needs changing, use its appropriate entry page rather than typing over this summary.
